Tenders – Revisited

The break from our last post has been productive. We won our 1st tender to help local rural organisations, helping micro craft enterprises to become more professional. This contract is with the local partnership organisation.

The lessons learned from this tender:

1) Turning your hobby/activities into work allows you to articulate your experiences in a worthwhile fashion. When a hobby becomes work, then work is something that you start your day early with a smile on the face.

2) Meeting with various parties, understanding the nature of work, if and when opportunities arise, then you are familiar with the process & people involved. Not being outside the loop is advantageous.

3) Tenders consume the working week, we spent 6 days x 2 people on the tender, and were fortunate to win this contract, but you must consider your chances of winning this, understand the bid/no bid of a contract. What is the potential loss of wasting time on something you have low or limited chances of winning.

4) Networking is important.
